Marquette Choral Society begins their Fall 2024 concert season with Monday night rehearsals and membership sign-up on August 26 in the Choral Room in the Thomas Fine Arts Building on the NMU campus. This year’s concerts will be on December 7th and 8th in the Reynolds Recital Hall. The featured work will be John Rutter’s “Magnificat” with soprano soloist Amanda Boundy and chamber orchestra. Other winter-themed works include “On a Winter’s Night” by Karen P. Thomas, “Ave Maria” by Javier Busto, “The Rune of Hospitality” by Alf Hakoum, “Winter Suite: Six Songs Without Words, Opus 19…With Words”, based on music by Felix Mendelssohn and text by Laurie Betts Hughes, and “Christmas is Coming” arranged by Mack Wilberg with four hand piano accompaniment.

There is no audition required for membership. New members will be accepted August 26, September 9, and September 16. There will be no rehearsal September 2, in observance of Labor Day. Registration starts at 6:00 before rehearsal from 7—9pm. Fees and music costs are $65.00. Some scholarships are available. Choral Society is also available for NMU Credit.

Members will also have the opportunity to perform with the Marquette Symphony Orchestra on December 14, as well as at the Community Christmas Sing-along on December 20.
